Using the MANUAL BOOK SEARCH page takes you directly to the relevant Amazon page in the built-in browser.
![]() |
In the BUILT-IN BROWSER,
you can find the correct item and click the red LIST THIS ITEM
button to list immediately to Amazon.
![]() |
|
2. Automatic International Inclusion
![]() |
INTERNATIONAL AUTO or MANUAL Click the radio button to change. MANUAL means that all items listed will be listed for international sale if the YES button is selected, but they will be listed for domestic only (i.e. non-international) if NO is selected. AUTOMATIC means that the Lister decides whether to include for international sale depending on the weight of the item. This is useful, as the weight can also be included as part of the SKU so that later repricing is made easier (e.g. you don't need to look at the book, just at the SKU THRESHOLD: On AUTOMATIC, the THRESHOLD value is the weight above which an item will be excluded from international sale, but all weights below will be included. EXAMPLE: Set INTERNATIONAL to AUTOMATIC and the THRESHOLD to 400g. List a book and set its weight (bottom left hand corner of listing page) to 300g and it will be included for international sale. List another book with a weight of 700g and it will be listed for domestic sale only (non-international). AMAZON POSTAGE COMPENSATION VIABILITY LEVEL The weight at which Amazon's fee for international sales becomes too expensive to be viable depends on a number of factors: 1) the weight of the book; 2) the value of the book; 3) your particular postage or shipping carrier contract price; 4) whether a pro-merchant with Amazon; 5) whether you are registered as a business for VAT. Therefore the INTERNATIONAL THRESHOLD WEIGHT should be set according to your business circumstances EURO, EURO++ and WORLD: When set to INTERNATIONAL, the specific choice is set here. Most sellers set it to WORLD. EURO = UK and Europe. EURO++ = UK, Europe and North America. WORLD means whole world. |
|
3. Media Mode Function
![]() |
These buttons change the set of standard sentences or phrases according to the item you are listing. When you search for an ISBN (International Standard Book Number) or for an ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number) where the number refers to a book, then the Lister will automatically select Hardback or Paperback book as appropriate. The appropriate standard sentences or phrases will be shown. When an EAN barcode (European Artical Numbering System) is entered that is not a book, Amazon is searched for VHS Videos or DVD videos, CDs or other matches to the barcode number. The MEDIA option is automatically selected by the Lister. IMPORTANT NOTE: Sometimes, Amazon's database categorises items incorrectly and in this case, the Lister will assume the date from Amazon to be correct. Therefore, it is always worth checking that the item in your hand is the same category (book or other media) as Amazon and the lister believe it to be. If you wish, you can click the radio buttons to change the category from and to HARDBACK, PAPERBACK and MEDIA as appropriate. |
|
4. Price Match & Submit
![]() |
The entire blue box can be moved to wherever on the screen you find
it is comfortable to use it. NOTE that it will return to the
place where you have left it next time you run the program. It
can be reset to the default position on OPTIONS AND PREFERENCES under
the ALT menu. PRICE MATCH button When a lowest USED price is available, this will be shown on the PRICE MATCH button. If no USED price is available, it will show the NEW price. If neither USED nor NEW price is available, the PRICE MATCH button will be disabled. NOTE: SWITCH between USED price, NEW price and COLLECTABLE price by right-clicking on the PRICE MATCH button. Where the lowest Amazon price is set to £0.00, the PRICE MATCH button will show £0.01 SUBMIT button To list at a price which is neither the lowest NEW or USED price, enter the price into the white box above the SUBMIT button. The default setting can be changed in the box at the bottom left of the page. WHITE VALUE BUTTON See separate help for this function. CONDITION BAR The chocolate and cream colour condition bar indicates the currently selected condition for this item. It helps as a final instant visual to save having to search elsewhere on the page when about to clik on of the LIST buttons. |
|
5. Standard Sentence Display Options
![]() |
HEADERS ONLY This is the normal working mode. The headers are NOT part of the item description - merely titles that mean something to the user to identify a particular longer description. When the HEADER is selected, then the associated text is inserted into the pink text box as the item description (plus any currently selected headers and trailers) HEADERS and DESCRIPTIONS This option is ideal as a training mode. The HEADERS are shown with their associated DESCRIPTIONS. The HEADERS are NOT included in the item description, only the description (in blue) beneath it.Select the appropriate HEADER with its DESCRIPTION and the latter will be inserted in the pink text box. EDITABLE LINES This option enables the standard sentences to be changed. While it is possible to use this option for all listing, it is not a good idea in case the sentences are changed accidentally. The initial sentences are designed to be quite general but some people prefer a larger number of options. Remember that the more sentences you add, the longer it will take when listing to choose the correct option. Most experienced users prefer to limit the number of their options. OTHER EDITING OPTIONS - IMPORTANT NOTE: You can also edit the description text for an individual listing directly in the pink text box above. BUT be warned that it will be overwritten if you click on a different standardsentence AFTER such editing as the sentence you click on will replace your typed changes. |
|
6. Using Automatic and Manual SKU Settings
![]() |
Under Amazon rules, every item must have a
unique SKU (Stock Keeping Unit). When an item is sold, the SKU cannot
be reused. The SKU can be written manually (MANUAL setting - just type in your SKU) or created automatically (AUTO-SKU recommended setting) with the following parameters separated by a dash: BOX or SHELF NUMBER or NAME Most sellers store their books in boxes or on numbered shelves, in which case it can be written in this box. To avoid errors, you can set a limit on the number of characters in this section (See Alt Menu> Options).A warning is given when a preset number of items is in the box so that you don't forget to change the box number; this max number can be changed in the OPTIONS box. Can also be left blank. NEXT S/N (SERIAL NUMBER) If you use a SERIAL NUMBER system for all your books, enter the next number here. Enter below it the increment (number added) for ever new book listed (usually 1). It's useful to include this in any case to help find the book if lost. ADD DATE AND TIME Most users like to add the date (and time) as that also helps in finding lost books - one can identify when it was listed and guess where it could have been incorrectly filed. Recommended to use. SUFFIX Space here for an additional suffix, although most never use it. An ADDITIONAL SUFFIX with the user or computer ID is located on the OPTIONS page (ALT menu) - this is added to every sku and is recommended for use where several people list on different computers. DON'T FORGET to set the SKU to auto to ensure every one is unique. |
|
7. Standard Sentence Display Options
![]() |
The weight of the item is really only important for
one reason - to ensure that you don't accidentally set too low a price
either for a heavy item requiring higher postage costs than Amazon's
"Postage Compensation". The weight can be added to the SKU to enable easier repricing without checking the individual book. Depending on the INTERNATIONAL settings, the value set in the WEIGHT box will cause the automated international setting to be eitherfor fully international sale or for domestic (e.g. UK) only. IMPORTANT NOTE: When entering the weight, it is important to include the weight of all packaging as this can often make the difference between making a profit and making a loss, particularly in low-price books at the weight/cost-effective borderlines. RETAIN OPTION click RETAIN to change it from blank to ticked. When RETAIN is checked (ticked), the weight remains the same from one item to the next. If NOT ticked, it will revert to the lowest value. When ticked, the weight value will ALSO be the same next time you restart the program. |
8. Open eBay Listings (for current title)![]() |
This
button will open the ADVANCED search function on eBay and will search
for COMPLETED (i.e. finished, whether sold or not sold) details for
this item. Seeing completed listings is more useful when
determining a price than looking at current unsold listings. IMPORTANT NOTE: The page will be opened in your default browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Opera) and you MUST already be logged in to your eBay account for it to work. eBay does not permit a search of completed items unless you are logged in to your account. The easiest way to do this is to open your browser, log in, then press this button. You MUST have already scanned a barcode or located an item (ready to list) before this button can be used. |
9. Amazon Title search (for current title)![]() |
Click
on the BOOKSHELF to search for this title. The MANUAL SEARCH box
will open and then make any adjustments you require then click the FIND
THE BOOK button. For DVDs, VHS videos and CDs, it is still acceptable to click the button, FIND A BOOK as the search results will be the same. |
10. View Amazon Product Page for this item![]() |
This
button will open the Amazon page in the BookListerPro browser to enable
you to see any other details you may wish to know about this item. If you want to see other books or items with this title, click the icon of the bookshelf above (between the eBay and Amazon logos). You MUST have already scanned a barcode or located an item (ready to list) before this button can be used. |
11. Automatic Condition Setting![]() |
Setting
the single default condition for each mode (Paperback, Hardback and
Media) is very important. So if, for instance, you are selling
used books but new DVDs, you can adjust your settings accordingly. Settings are done on the ALT menu > OPTIONS and PREFERENCES.When an item is scanned OR when you click on the Paperback, Hardback or Media mode options, the default condition for that mode is automatically selected. It is therefore very IMPORTANT that you SET CONDITION DEFAULTS for each mode. REMEMBER - if you DON'T set the default condition, it will return to the original default of USED - VERY GOOD every time (unless the RETAIN option is selected). |
12. Condition Statements![]() |
The
condition statements correspond to Amazon's standard condition
statements - available on the VISIT WEB menu, click on AMAZON CONDITION
GUIDELINES. SELECTING CONDITION To select the condition of the book, first check with the Amazon Condition Guidelines then choose the appropriate heading. Click on the radio button next to chosen condition. It is generally recommended that an accurate or worse condition is selected as a better-than-accurate description leads to customer dissatisfaction. DEFAULT CONDITION When a new item is scanned or located, the condition returns to USED - VERY GOOD. Remember that the correct condition must be selected for every book. RETAIN FUNCTION When the RETAIN box is ticked, the current condition remains the same for the next item listed - and doesn't change until either (a) the condition is changed by clicking on a different radio button or (b) the RETAIN box is unticked so that the next item will return to the default of USED - VERY GOOD. IMPORTANT - REMEMBER that when the program is turned off and restarted the condition will be the same on restart IF the RETAIN box is ticked. NOTE that you can click anywhere on the words or the button to select that condition, but NOT on the square buttons to the right, which have a different function. |
13. Product Insert![]() |
This
is a sort of pre-prefix prefix! Many sellers like to state at the
beginning of a description the type of item - e.g. "Hardback book." or
"Paperback." This is particularly necessary as Amazon's database has
become increasingly corrupted since sellers have been permitted to make
changes themselves. EDIT BUTTON Editing will open a new form enabling you to set values for the first three terms and permitting you to add as many further terms as you wish. NOTE that the fourth and subsequent terms will be entered exactly as displayed and do not have separate headers. HARDBACK, PAPERBACK and MEDIA The first three titles insert standard phrases specified using the EDIT function corresponding to those titles. ADDITIONAL TERMS Additional terms must be on a single line and of the first three and additional terms, only ONE may be inserted on any one description. REMEMBER that you can always add additional text to the pink box by typing. TICK BOX The tick box adds or removes this pre-prefix to the description statement in the pink box. |
14. Prefixes and Suffixes![]() |
In
addition to the Product Prefix, a standard prefix and suffix can be
added to any listing description by ticking the PREFIX or SUFFIX
boxes. To include the prefix or suffix, just tick the appropriate
box. PREFIX The PREFIX is inserted in the description after the PRODUCT INSERT but before the main sentence. Tick the box to include it. Click on the EDIT button to change it. SUFFIX The SUFFIX is inserted in the description after the selected standard sentence, and after the pre-suffix insert (aka Inscription statement) but before the International Heavy suffix. Tick the box to include it. Click on the EDIT button to change it. INTERNATIONAL HEAVY SUFFIX OPTION This sentence will ONLY be included in special circumstances. First, the tick box must be checked (ticked). IF the International tick box is ticked, the sentence will be included ONLY WHEN the weight of the item (bottom left of page) is specified as being greater than the THRESHOLD value in the International Threshold drop down menu. EDIT BUTTON The PREFIX, SUFFIX and INTERNATIONAL OVERWEIGHT SUFFIX can all be edited by pressing the edit button. On first using the program, standard sentences are set for you but it is recommended that you change these. |
15. Final Description Text Box![]() |
This
is the FINAL description, just as it will be uploaded to Amazon
later. It is a text box which will accept your own description,
which you can write directly into the box, but is usually used to build
standard descriptions from main sentences with various prefixes
and suffixes, or with phrases if in the phrase building mode. Even after standard sentences have been selected, the text box enables fine tuning and final editing where required. CLIPBOARD FUNCTIONS Remember that you can COPY from and PASTE to the pink text box. To copy, select the text to be copied and RIGHT CLICK on the selected text. A little menu will appear; Click on COPY to place a copy on your computer's invisible CLIPBOARD. This text can then be PASTEd later or in another program. |
16. Setting Condition Defaults![]() |
Condition defaults are designed to help speed up listing. When preparing the sentences, each sentence would be expected to correspond to a specific condition. Therefore, when you select a particular condition, it is helpful if the corresponding sentence is automatically selected. It is therefore very strongly recommended that you use the SET CONDITION DEFAULTS button for each of Hardback and Paperback options (and Media if you also sell DVDs, Videos and/or CDs) so that when you select the condition, your favourite sentence for that condition immediately appears. REMEMBER that you should change the standard sentences so that you don't have the same comments as everyone else!! The Default Setting form can be moved around the page by dragging it. It is VERY STRONGLY recommended that this facility be used as it will save the lister a great deal of time thinking about which sentence to select. Of course, a different sentence can still be chosen after a sentence is selected automatically. Hiding the SET CONDITION DEFAULTS button does not change or stop the functionality. |
17. Maximum Box or Shelf Length (No. of Characters)![]() |
On the ALT menu > OPTIONS and PREFERENCES It is very easy to enter an incorrect box number or shelf number into the text box. If your box numbers are all between 100 and 999, then set the maximum number of characters to THREE. If numbers are from 1000 to 9999 then set it to FOUR characters. This is a safety feature and is actually more useful than might at first appear! |
18. Fixed SKU Suffix option![]() |
On the ALT menu > OPTIONS and PREFERENCES This is a permanent suffix, added to every SKU. Its purpose is to identify the computer or the person listing, which can sometimes be useful when a book cannot be found where one expects to find it - or for other analysis. |
19. Amazon (& other site) Output Options![]() |
At present, only AMAZON upload data is available, but it is planned to create the data in a number of other formats in due course. |
20. Books per Box or Shelf Limit![]() |
Located in OPTIONS & PREFERENCES on the ALT menu. Many sellers store books in numbered boxes. Clearly, there is a limit to the number of books that can be stored in any one box. Depending on the boxes, book sizes, etc., this may be anywhere from two or three up to perhaps 50 - and perhaps even more in the case of CDs and DVDs. Also, most sellers like to include the box (or shelf) number in the SKU to help locate it when it sells. With that in mind, and and knowing from experience how easy it is to forget to change the box number when changing boxes (or to change a shelf number when changing shelves), a warning is given when a preset number of books is reached. This reminder is greatly appreciated by most lister who are more concentrating on listing than on automated SKU numbers. The maximum number of items before the reminder warning is set by the user (25 in the sample picture). CHECK (TICK) BOX The warning can also be switched on by checking (ticking) the tick box and switched off by clicking to untick the tick box. |
21. Quantity Data![]() |
The
LARGE white box is the number of copies of this item that you would
like to list. Obviously, for most used book dealers, this would
be one. However, you can list multiple copies within the same SKU
in Amazon. QUANTITY DEFAULT When listing multiple copies regularly, you may wish the to set the default (the number it reverts to automatically) to a preset number. For instance, you may have ten copies of every book. Simply set the "10" into the smaller default box then every time you list, the count will become ten for the next book. However, if you find that you have 12 copies of one book, just change the current QUANTITY to 12 and list or submit it in the usual way and it will change back to ten immediately after you have listed it. RETAIN CHECK BOX If the RETAIN box is ticked, the current QUANTITY will stay the same (12 in the above example), for each listing, even though the default is different. NOTE that the RETAIN function also keeps the numbers in both the QUANTITY and QUANTITY DEFAULT boxes when you close the program and restart - otherwise, they will both revert to one next time you run the program. |
22. Default Submit Price![]() |
For
an individual book (or media item), when setting a price other than the
lowest used or new price, it should be entered in the small white box
immediately above the SUBMIT button. After listing an individually priced book, the value will revert to this default price for the next book, so if you want to list several books at the same price, this is where to change it. The PRICE DEFAULT value is retained automatically when you close and re-open the program. |
23. Set Undercut/overprice default![]() |
This
is the amount by which the VALUE +/- button (right hand white button in
blue SUBMIT box) increases or decreases the listing value of an item
based on the current used value. The amount of undercutting or
"overpricing" can be changed by: a) TYPING in the amount, including minus ("-") sign for undercutting or b) clicking (or clicking and holding down) the up/down arrows to increase or decrease the amount. NOTE: It is very strongly recommended that the lowest price should not be undercut as this leads to a rapid spiralling downwards of the product price as many sellers use automatic pricing software to match (or undercut) the prices of others. |
24. Auto Submit Buttons![]() |
These
buttons will list the current item using the DEFAULT SENTENCE for that
condition. So, for example, if you have set SENTENCE No. 7 to be
the standard sentence for (say) "Used-Very Good", then that sentence
will be selected when you click the Used-Very Good auto submit button. The listed PRICE will be the lowest USED book price. To change to the lowest NEW book price before using the AUTO-SUBMIT button, right-click on the SUBMIT button (in the blue box) to change to NEW price. At the top are two RADIO BUTTONS called MATCH and SUBMIT. When MATCH is selected, the price chosen will be the lowest price as above. The SELECT option will list at the current default price set in the box below. VERY IMPORATANT!!!! It is VITAL that the SET CONDITION DEFAULTS function (see button below) is used to set up the standard sentences for all conditions for BOTH Paperback and Hardback. All other settings such as prefixes, suffixes, automatic SKU, International overweight and other settings are included automatically when using this function. |
25. Pre-Suffix Insert Option![]() |
There
is often some little phrase that you occasionally want to add to the
description. Typical of this type of insert is the comment,
"Inscribed by previous owner" which is the default phrase. However, you don't want to insert it every time, so just hit this button when you do want it and it is automatically switched off for the next book. However, if the RETAIN box is ticked, it will continue to be switched on for the next book. |
26. View Previous Item![]() |
When an item is listed and saved, the details are stored. AFTER the first item is listed, the previous item becomes available to view. |
27. Bulk Listing Button![]() |
The
BULK lister is the easiest function to use of all. Once set up,
just scan one item after the next - in any order, paperbacks,
hardbacks, DVDs, Videos, CDs and you will be able to list up to 30 or
more items a minute depending the respective speeds of your computer
and Internet connection. SETTING UP For each mode, HARDBACK, PAPERBACK and MEDIA, you must set the DEFAULT CONDITION. This is the condition which it will change to as soon as you identify the item. It is a good idea to set both hardback and paperback defaults as Amazon database sometimes lists one type of book under the other heading. For each condition in each mode, must also set the DEFAULT SENTENCE for that condition. This is done using the blue SET AUTO SENTENCE DEFAULTS button below the condition statements. Once these settings are in place (and you have changed the Box number from the start-up condition of "-1"), you can press the BULK LIST button and list faster - and more accurately - than most other Amazon sellers! |
28. Add New Sentence Button![]() |
NEW SENTENCE, ADD AT END button Each sentence has a button to add a new sentence before it, but use this button to add a new sentence at the end of the list.Remember that you can separate sentences by inserting a row of dashes (------), equals (======) or underscores (______). SAVE CHANGES button This button permanently saves the changes you have made. NOTE that once you have made changes, you are NOT PERMITTED to leave the page until you have either SAVED the changes or REVERTED to the last saved. REVERT TO LAST SAVED button If you make a mistake or change your mind over changes, you can REVERT TO LAST SAVED. You must either revert or save before reverting to 'headers only' mode or changing to another mode (e.g. hardback to paperback)Make sure to write a header that means something and is relevant to the standard sentence. NOTE that you can move the sentence up and down the list to a better position, and to aid grouping. |
29. Set Condition Defaults![]() |
This button opens a form enabling the user to set the default sentence for each condition setting. The concept is that when a CONDITION SETTING radio button is clicked, the sentence related to that condition is automatically selected, saving time. Click on the ADVICE button (the exclamation mark) for mor help on this. |
30. Editing Standard Sentences![]() |
BEFORE EDITING SENTENCES, it is a good idea to use the ALT menu and
EXPORT your existing sentences - then if you make a mistake, you can
recover them using the IMPORT option - useful if you have made several
SAVEd changes but want to revert to an earlier version. However,
the blue REVERT button also reverts to the last saved ... which may not
me the same if several changes with SAVEs have been performed. For each sentence, there are two sections: the HEADER which is NOT INCLUDED in the item description and the item DESCRIPTION itself. It is important for credibility in the Amazon Marketplace that you check spelling and grammar and that the the descriptions are accurate enough - to describe the books, yet general enough to cover the description of many books. The HEADER is to remind you of the description content and have enough information to enable staff to use it correctly. Use the DELETE button to flag a sentence for deletion when you save. IF you change your mind, click the same button (which changes its name to 'RESTORE' as soon as the deletion is flagged. Use the UP ARROW button to move a sentence up (which also moves the sentence above it DOWN. To move a sentence DOWN, just keep clicking on the UP arrow for the sentence below it! IMPORTANT: Sentence editing must be done separately for each type, HARDBACK and PAPERBACK. If you also sell DVDs Videos and/or CDs, then you should also edit the MEDIA sentences. It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you change the sentences and do no use the standard ones as they will be the same as other people's who do not change them! The starter sentences are designed as guides only. |
31. Set Header Lines![]() |
The two characters: !- at the start of the header line
causes a horizontal dividing bar. Messages following the two
special characters will be displayed as the section heading. This enables you to divide the sentences neatly into sections. |
32. User-ID Purpose![]() |
The current USER-ID can be changed on the ALT menu > CHANGE USER-ID. When the current listings are copied to the desktop ready to be uploaded to Amazon, the User-ID is appended to the file name for subsequent identification. This is most useful where several computers are used for listing and are managed by pulling the completed files to a server for upload and can be identified separately. |
33. Hide Unused Components![]() |
Functions that are not used, or rarely used, can be hidden to make the listing page look simpler and cleaner. IMPORTANT - all settings related to hidden functions are switched off at the point of hiding: INSTANT LIST BUTTONS - no related settings BULK LIST BUTTON - no related settings SET VALUE +/- - no related settings WEIGHT FUNCTIONS - weight and threshold set to lowest values and weight option removed from automatic SKU function. PHRASE-BUILD FUNCTIONS - Menu reset options removed and Build Phrases button also removed PREFIXES AND SUFFIXES - All prefixes, suffixes and retain options are turned off. They will not be added when sentences are rebuilt. INTERNATIONAL OPTIONS - The INTERNATIONAL SUFFIX is removed and cannot be added. Also the weight threshold is now irrelevant and also hidden. SENTENCE EDITING OPTION - Only used occasionally, so it's tidier when hidden. You can't do any damage!! Just click the options on and off and see what happens! |
34. Relocate Submit Buttons function![]() |
On the ALT menu > OPTIONS and PREFERENCES Sometimes, when moving the SUBMIT box around the screen, it can be moved to an inconvenient position, or can't easily be found. This function returns it to its home position. |
35. Session Data![]() |
STORED
LISTINGS means the total number of listings stored and ready to upload
to Amazon. This does NOT include any that have already been
copied to the desktop and archived or any that have been uploaded to
Amazon. |
36. Enter ISBN, EAN or ASIN box![]() |
Type
the 10 digit ISBN or 13 digit ISBN (starting with 978 or 979) into this
box. If you have a scanner, the cursor should be in this box
before you scan the barcode. The scanner acts just like a
keyboard, entering the number if reads. As soon as the barcode or ISBN is entered and the GO button pressed (or ENTER or RETURN button typed), the ListingTool will begin searching Amazon's database for details of the item. DROP DOWN SELECTION Every ISBN or EAN entered during a listing session is remembered and added to the drop down box. To re-use a number (an item previously listed this session), just click on the down arrow to the right of the box and previously listed item EANs or ISBNs or ASINs will appear. Then click the GO button to go there |
37. Title Box![]() |
This box shows details of the book/item currently found from the
ISBN or manual search, complete with TITLE, AUTHOR, number and price of
USED (if any) and NEW (if any) and Collectable (if any) along with
AMAZON SALES RANK. To the right is a COVER PICTURE of the currently displayed book or item. Click on the cover picture for a larger image; this is the image provided from the Amazon database. The overlay with the price does not appear until the item has been SUCCESSFULLY listed into the currently saved listings file. When an ISBN or EAN is not valid, details can be found in this box. The three EBAY, BOOKSHELF and AMAZON BUTTONS on the right are buttons - see separate HELP pages for them. |
38. Clear and Revert functions![]() |
CLEAR button The CLEAR button removes all text from the description sentence box. You can then write your own description. If you change your mind, click the REVERT button to go back to the previous description. REVERT button The REVERT button returns the description sentence to the the previous version (just before the last rebuild). This is particularly useful if you have changed the description and then accidentally rebuilt it (for instance by clicking on one of the standard sentences. Actually, it doesn't just revert - it toggles between the current and immediatly previous sentence, so press it twice to return to the current description statement. Obviously, it only works if you have made at least one change (whether by manual typing or pressing another sentence or phrase option) since starting the program! BESPOKE MODE button (Bottom right in pic) While in the BESPOKE MODE, automatic sentences are not used, but you must type the description into the pink description box. You do not need to remove the initial text as this will disappear as you type. The lower picture (B + Tick) shows that Bespoke Mode is switched on. |
39. White Value Button![]() |
WHITE VALUE BUTTON Some sellers like to set their prices to be (for instance) a penny (or a pound!) above or a penny below the current lowest price. There is some merit in setting to £1 above, but setting to 1p below is very strongly discouraged as others will do the same, and the price rapidly spirals. Generally, the best option is to price-match. The amount of UNDERCUTTING or OVERPRICING can be adjusted in the SET VALUE option on the bottom left of this page. If undercutting reduces the price to less than one penny, then the price will be set to a penny. CHANGING VALUE to NEW or USED price RIGHT CLICK with your mouse on either this white button or on the brown PRICE MATCH button to toggle between the current USED price and the current NEW price. SETTING THE AMOUNT The sum by which other sellers can be undercut can be adjusted in the SET VALUE +/- box in the bottom left of this page. |
40. Set Condition Defaults![]() |
Unless the RETAIN box is ticked (above the condition options when
listing), the condition will automatically change to the default value
set here. It is recommended that you set the paperback and hardback options to USED - VERY GOOD if you are a typical seller of used books, unless you feel that your books are normally of a different condition, in which case set that as the default. There are three columns, one for each type. Therefore the default condition for Hardback, Paperback and Media can be set independently. |
41. Reset Defaults and Parameters![]() |
If you ever need to reset all the system parameters (things that stay the same when you run the program as they were when you last turned it off), this function will reset them all. |
42. Sound Options![]() |
SOUND ON/OFF OPTION Sound can be turned on and off by clicking the loudspeaker icon. BULK LISTING When the BULK LISTING function is turned on, the sound is turned on at the same time because that is a time when it is easy to miss a book that is not able to be listed for some reason such as not being found on the Amazon Database. |
43. Edit Listings Function![]() |
EDIT LISTINGS After listing your items, the Edit Listings function enables them to be edited before uploading to Amazon. All the fields, including SKU, Description, etc., can be edited. and the changes stored. Items can also be deleted from this list. This means that when realising a mistake after listing - it can be corrected before uploading to Amazon. The edit buttons are clear and no further explanation is necessary. |
44. Manual Search Function![]() |
MANUAL SEARCH When you need to find a book manually, this will take you to an Amazon search in the built-in browser. When you have navigated to the item to be listed, just click the LIST THIS ITEM button to be returned to this page with the item already selected. |

52 Automatic Weight Function![]() |
The WEIGHT function enables you to set the weight without
weighing. Most weights are fairly accurate, although it is
recommended that you check that each one is approximately what you
expect, and weigh the book yourself if necessary. 1. Select Automatic Weight from the ALT Menu. This will set the weight for each book listed and also set the International status (depending on the THRESHOLD setting). Weight + Packing weight will be shown under the weight icon. 2. If Automatic Weight is off, CLICK the WEIGHT ICON BUTTON to activate for one book. 3. Set the weight of your packing in the OPTIONS on the ALT Menu. This weight will be added to the book weight. 4. The weight in the weight box will automatically be set to the next threshold weight. 5. INTERNATIONAL will be set to ON if it is in AUTO mode AND it is under the THRESHOLD. 6. In AUTO mode, the SUBMIT and MATCH buttons will be disabled until the weight is available. NOTE 1: When in Automatic Weight Mode - WHERE NO WEIGHT IS AVAILABLE, an audible announcement is made and the weight will not change (it will have been reset when the previous item was listed unless the RETAIN is set). NOTE 2: Weight takes longer to find due to being collected from a different website. It happens in the background, so you can continue preparing sentences, selecting condition etc., whilst awaiting arrival of the weight data. |
1. Jump to Page Number![]() |
Searching through the Amazon catalogue
after a manual search can sometimes be a nightmare as Amazon only
permit searching for the next few pages. This function enables you to jump to any page (to the maximum catalogue search of page 400) and also states which item numbers are being shown on that page. |
2. List This Item button![]() |
When an Amazon.co.uk product page is found
for a book, video, CD or DVD - whether using an EAN, and ISBN or an
ASIN (B0000 Number) - this button changes to bright red. As soon as the bright red button is clicked, you are returned to the main listing page where THE BOOK DETAILS HAVE ALREADY BEEN PREPARED so you can select a condition, etc. and list immediately without any further action. |
3. Website Link Buttons![]() |
This browser can be used just like any other browser, but also has these useful additional buttons enabling you to navigate to special relevant webpages, including a number of other bookselling websites. |
